Notre client dans le secteur Énergie et ressources naturelles recherche un/une Market Expert & Data Analyst (Future Energy Scenarios) H/F Description de la mission : Service description – Market Expert & Data Analyst (Future Energy Scenarios) Context and objective of the assignment A major Belgian player in the energy sector is looking for one consultant to support its Scenarios, Market & Adequacy analysis team. The assignment takes place in the context of the Belgian and European energy transition and focuses on future energy scenarios, adequacy studies, security of supply studies, vision studies and cost-benefit analysis related to future grid projects. These studies rely on economic dispatch tools used to evaluate the need for additional generation capacity, economic outputs and system margins for every hour of the year. The consultant will contribute to building future energy scenarios and modelling frameworks, as well as the related data infrastructure and analysis capabilities. Main responsibilities • Support the team in building future energy scenarios for Belgium and Europe • Work on trajectories for future electricity demand, including EV, heat pumps and industry projections • Work on supply-side trajectories, including thermal generation and renewable energy sources • Collect, consolidate and challenge large volumes of data from different countries, sources and tools • Use and improve data management processes within the team • Contribute to and improve data collection processes, scenario definitions and model-building datasets • Support model building and perform quality checks on built models • Support impact assessments on modelling assumptions, including demand, renewables, flexibility and storage assumptions • Perform quality checks on models and simulation results • Consolidate historical data into model input datasets • Collect projection scenarios from European countries and verify alignment with defined storylines • Create, review and improve tools in R, Python, VBA and Excel to modify parameters or data items in the modelling and simulation environment • Create and improve visualizations of simulation outputs using tools such as R, Power BI and QGIS • Critically analyze algorithm results and help identify key trends • Support data engineering activities and interfaces between tools • Contribute to additional tasks related to future scenarios and modelling as needed Profile sought The client is looking for a medior consultant with strong interest and knowledge in the energy sector, especially electricity markets in Belgium and Europe, including major policies and targets. The person should be proactive, analytical, innovative, able to challenge projections and assumptions, and comfortable working both independently and within a team.
