An exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team in Information Services at the University of Brighton If you're looking for a role where you can apply your all round IT skills in a meaningful, supportive environment - we can offer exactly that. Our Student Systems team develops, integrates and supports the University's core student management systems, which handle everything from applications and enrolments to fees, results, placements, wellbeing and awards. We're now looking for someone to help us make the very best use of these systems. Our primary development platform is SITS e:Vision, a proprietary toolkit used to build self service functions for students and applicants, as well as tools for staff to maintain student records. Full training will be provided - what you'll bring is an analytical mindset, an aptitude for web development and a willingness to learn. Student data underpins almost every university process, and we support integrations with finance, accommodation, timetabling, UCAS, our VLE and identity management systems. You'll work across a mix of on premise and cloud hosted services, applying your SQL, PL/SQL, web services and scripting experience to maintain and enhance them. We will also want you to play a key role in system support - from upgrades and patching to third line investigation, debugging and vendor liaison. Strong customer service, clear communication and confident data analysis will be essential. We'd be delighted to welcome someone who sees themselves thriving in this role that's based at our Moulsecoomb campus, with modern learning, working and social spaces. This is a full-time (37.0 hours per week), permanent post with opportunities for flexible working and we welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share. SQL Server Database Engineer with SSIS Our Client is bank based in Central London – who are looking to recruit Database Engineer with at least 5 to 7 years sold expertise of working SQL Server SSIS and SSRS. Responsible for the development and delivery of pipelines (collect, validate and prepare high quality data) to automate and streamline processes required by different departments. Support existing SSIS ETLs (overnight and intraday), proactively fine-tune and enhance existing codes to increase robustness and error monitoring. Support the internal IT department with changes and upgrades to software platforms. Convert legacy Hyperion reports to SSRS. Software Development: Analysis of issues pertaining to problems or errors raised by in-house systems, i.e. CORE, SharePoint interface, Equation end of day cycle. Understanding business requirements in order to develop and deliver appropriate solutions based on system definition documents. Proficiency in advanced 4GL programming languages and able to apply to the fully development life-cycle. Database Support To build data pipelines within the SQL environment in SSIS packages, where required, introduce new field and data types for new information to be collated in the CORE environment. To build tabular models (SSAS) for different business units. To build reports based on business requirements using SQL SSRS. To integrate with all the Bank's sub-systems using data abstraction and connectivity layers, i.e. ODBC, ADO.net. Ensure that the environment is running optimally and with high standard house-keeping procedures. Sharepoint Integration: To integrate the SharePoint environment and Forms with Equation system to introduce automation of processes thereby eliminating the need for duplicate entry. To utilise web services to integrate from cutting edge technology into legacy systems such as Equation. End of Day Cycle: To provide second and third level support for in-house programmes during the end of day cycle. To be able to analyse and rectify any problems raised in an independent and team scenario. To take ownership of a problem and deliver a solution in a timely manner. Provide out of office hours support. Risk & Regulatory Duties Maintain knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements including the Bank's Risk and Compliance policies and procedures and adhere to these to avoid exposing the Bank to undue risk. Report policy/procedure breaches and areas of potential non-compliance and suspicions promptly upon identification in accordance with the Bank's Risk and Compliance policies. Accurately execute all controls within own area to minimise risk of policy, procedure, and/or regulatory breaches. Identify new risks/control gaps within own area and escalate accordingly to your Line Manager and/or Head of Department. Training & Competence Complete all annual mandatory regulatory refresher training as per the Bank's training plans and deadlines. Proactively seek to complete recommended technical and behavioural competencies training required for your role. Act in accordance with the FCA/PRA Code of Conduct. Fulfil all prescribed business continuity requirements as set out in the organisational or departmental specific plans or as instructed by the Line Manager/Head of Department. Qualifications/Experience Degree level qualified or equivalent.
