We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a team supporting multiple data product and platform groups. This role is focused on improving the reliability, scalability, observability, and operational performance of critical data-driven platforms and services across complex production environments. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, platform, and support teams to strengthen monitoring and alerting capabilities, improve logging and traceability, troubleshoot production incidents, support deployments, and automate operational processes wherever possible. The environment includes Kubernetes, Helm, the ELK stack, and a strong focus on modern Site Reliability Engineering practices across cloud and platform services. This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and is passionate about reliability engineering, automation, and continuous improvement. The role requires strong collaboration with both client stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure platform stability, operational excellence, and high service availability

Role: * Must be very familiar with working in a Data Centre and Corporate environment * Minimum 3 years hands on experience, within the structured cabling industry. * Good understanding of various Structured Cabling Solutions * Capable of installing, Terminating & Testing Fibre Optic cables * Experienced in the use of Fluke test equipment and fault diagnosis. * Must have Health & Safety Training (CSCS or ECS or local/country specific H&S qualification) which is affiliated to the Construction Industry Training Board. * At least 3 industry or manufacturer's installation accreditations i.e. Commscope, Corning, Panduit or another leading brand. * Have completed an Industry recognised Structured cabling and Fibre Optic Training Course, i.e. CNET CNIT, BICSI Engineer, BICSI Technician, City & Guilds or equivalent accreditation (B-TEC). * IPAF and/or PASMA Training preferred. (or local/country specific powered access equipment qualification) * Experience in installation of cable pathways (Basket trays/trunking/fibre runner) * Ability to understand and follow patching schedule/cut sheet. * Experience in installing power and data connection cables within server & networking racks. * Experience in Rack n stack of active Network hardware, switches, routers & servers * Ability to follow instructions and providing on-site support to remote network and systems administrators. * Apply basic IP Addressing under instruction/direction. * Experience of installing and configuring UPS systems desirable * Excellent communication skills and professional attitude with experience of speaking to all levels of stakeholder. * Must be willing and able to travel within the UK and (fly) overseas to carry out project work as part of a team. * Night / shift work / weekend work may be required on a project-by-project basis. * Flexible hours Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. The postholder will ensure that the digital and technical Audio Visual (AV) infrastructure of the university, installed across its various digital hubs, classrooms, lecture theatres, meeting rooms and studio spaces are fit for purpose, managed and maintained, in a proactive and planned way.
