Job Description 2nd Line 24/7 WAN Network Support Engineer Brief overview on the role/project: We are seeking a 2nd Line WAN Network Engineer to support, manage and configure SRX series routers as part of our 24/7 BAU operations team, ensuring the global delivery of secure network services. If you're an experienced 2nd line network engineer, join our skilled team in Birmingham to manage and maintain our Customer Network WAN estate. Your daily responsibilities will involve a combination of technical network support, handling escalations, and working on project implementations. You will also provide guidance and support to 1st line engineers while collaborating closely with 3rd line engineers to share knowledge and enhance the 2nd line team's skills. Mandatory skills: We are looking for a capable engineer with expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Juniper network devices. The ideal candidate will possess good knowledge of configuring key network components. BGP IPSEC MPLS Juniper SRX Platform: The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and hands-on experience with various SRX and MX platforms, along with strong CLI expertise. Routing and Switching: A solid understanding of routing and switching protocols is essential. BGP: In-depth knowledge of BGP, including policy-based routing, attribute manipulation, load-balancing techniques, and advanced troubleshooting skills, is required. IPsec VPN and MPLS: Proficiency in troubleshooting IPsec VPNs and MPLS networks is a must. Key responsibilities will include: The post holder will be expected to think strategically in terms of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) Group, operating model, governance, risk, security, resilience, tooling, partners, cost, performance, and transformation. Overarching accountability for stability, resilience, and security of the Technology Services estate across UKHSA, including oversight of Information Technology Service Management (ITSM). Set the direction for Technology Services development and delivery of the related Technology strategy. Overarching accountability for Technology Services delivery of software and infrastructure platforms, products, technical operations, and development. Lead on the procurement, supply and negotiation of Technology Services goods and services for UKHSA, in conjunction with legal and procurement professionals, as appropriate. Accountable for managing and controlling the life cycle of all Technology Services related products / platforms / infrastructure, in line with the Enterprise Architecture. Lead and develop UKHSA’s technology capability, giving clear guidance on priorities and generating commitment to the wider goals of the organisation. Accountable for the quality of technology’s products, platforms, infrastructure, services etc. Adopt a portfolio view, managing end-to-end services, which include multiple products and channels. IT Support Engineer – Andover My customer is on the lookout for an IT Support Engineer to help support their IT Support team. The Engineer must have basic Networking and strong Microsoft Office Suite experience. The IT Support Engineer would help with any 1 and some 2 line issues and be the intermediary between the business and the outsourced IT team. The IT Support Engineer is required on site in Andover. Key Responsibilities of the IT Support Engineer Provide first-line support to office users for issues related to: Password resets. Active Directory (AD) and Azure authentication. Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint). Install and configure approved software applications. Manage and assign administrative access rights as per company policies.
