As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll take ownership of networking environments from installation and configuration through to ongoing optimisation, applying your expertise across Linux, automation and cloud technologies. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a role that requires you to be on site in London 5 days a week.

Candidate profile

In this role, you will take ownership of installing, configuring and maintaining secure networking infrastructure and the environments that support it. You’ll apply your networking and systems expertise to build reliable infrastructure both on and off site, troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience and security.

You’ll have scope to develop creative approaches to automation using Python, Bash and Ansible, while working across Linux systems and cloud platforms. Supported by CGI colleagues and working collaboratively with programme stakeholders, you’ll also contribute to infrastructure planning and procurement activities to help ensure the right solutions are delivered successfully.

• Build & Configure: Install and configure secure networking infrastructure across programme environments.

• Maintain & Optimise: Support reliable, secure and high-performing network and infrastructure environments.

• Automate & Improve: Use Python, Bash and Ansible to streamline infrastructure and operational activities.

• Administer & Support: Manage Linux-based systems and support virtualisation environments including Proxmox.

• Enable Cloud: Apply networking and infrastructure knowledge across AWS, Azure and GCP environments.

• Troubleshoot & Resolve: Diagnose infrastructure and networking issues and implement effective solutions.

• Plan & Deliver: Build infrastructure on and off site and contribute to associated procurement activities.

• Collaborate & Contribute: Work with CGI experts and programme stakeholders to deliver secure, effective solutions.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

You’ll bring strong networking fundamentals at approximately CCNA level, combined with practical network security and infrastructure experience. You should be comfortable administering Linux environments, using scripting and automation technologies, and working with major cloud platforms. Experience with Juniper networking and Proxmox would strengthen your fit for the role.

• CCNA-level networking knowledge and strong networking fundamentals.

• Good understanding of network security principles and practices.

• Practical experience installing and configuring networking infrastructure.

• Strong Linux administration skills, ideally within Red Hat environments.

• Experience with Python, Bash and Ansible for scripting and automation.

• Working knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting infrastructure environments.

• Experience with Juniper configuration and installation would be advantageous.

• Experience with Proxmox or comparable virtualisation technologies would be advantageous.

• Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of technical deliverables.
