Data Centre Engineer Skills and Experience Proven hands-on experience working within live data centre environments. Previous server, storage or infrastructure decommissioning experience. Strong practical knowledge of enterprise server and storage hardware. Experience installing and removing rack-mounted equipment. Experience tracing Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SAN and power connectivity. Understanding of enterprise storage infrastructure and associated cabling. Experience securely handling HDDs, SSDs and other data-bearing media. Knowledge of secure data sanitisation, media destruction and chain-of-custody requirements. Experience maintaining hardware asset and inventory records. Experience using CMDB or IT asset-management systems. Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to equipment identification.
