Job VacancyAI & Automation Engineer

Bluetown
Published on

Manchester, United Kingdom
Job Title: AI & Automation Engineer Location: Eccles, Manchester Salary: Competitive Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Netteam tX is looking for a hands-on engineer to take ownership of our existing Rewst automations, improve their reliability and expand our automation and AI capability across internal operations and customer services. You will inherit live automation assets, stabilise and document them, then build secure workflows, integrations and AI agents that reduce manual effort, improve consistency and create repeatable value. This is an engineering and ownership role, not a service desk position with occasional automation duties. You will work from business problem through design, build, testing and safe deployment, and remain accountable for performance in production. Why Netteam tX? We recognise and develop talent, creating opportunities for people to grow in different directions. Continuous learning, creativity and practical innovation are part of how we work, and we believe our people are what make NetTeam a great business to join. You will work across Service, Professional Services, Cyber, Commercial and Operations, with the opportunity to shape standards, reusable solutions and customer-facing services rather than simply maintain a fixed backlog. Your first priorities: Take structured ownership of the Rewst estate, including workflows, forms, integrations, schedules, credentials, dependencies and known issues. Make critical automations observable, documented, recoverable and supportable. Establish practical source-control, review, testing, release, rollback, alerting and support arrangements. Identify high-value opportunities across service delivery, Microsoft 365, security, onboarding, ticket handling and reporting. What you will own and deliver: Rewst and automation-platform ownership: Own the day-to-day health, administration, support and development of Rewst and the wider automation toolset, including Datto RMM and GetThread. Troubleshoot failed workflows, restore service safely, remove recurring causes and maintain an accurate automation and dependency register. Workflow and integration engineering: Design, build, test and maintain event-driven and scheduled workflows using the platform best suited to the requirement. Develop resilient PowerShell and API integrations with secure authentication, pagination, rate-limit awareness, structured logging, exception handling and rollback. AI agents and intelligent workflows: Deliver practical agents and AI-enabled workflows that use approved knowledge, request approval where needed, record evidence and escalate safely when confidence is insufficient. Design prompts, instructions, tools, actions, grounding sources and evaluation scenarios that produce repeatable, measurable outputs. Security, governance and production reliability: Apply least privilege, environment separation, approved identities, secure secrets, audit logging, change control, monitoring and safe fallbacks. Treat prompt injection, excessive permissions, unsafe actions, sensitive-data exposure, ungrounded output, model drift and uncontrolled consumption as engineering risks. Business discovery, customer solutions and team enablement: Run discovery sessions, translate requirements into designs and acceptance criteria, and support estimates, demonstrations, proposals and Statements of Work. Create runbooks, architecture notes, data-flow diagrams, test evidence and user guidance, and train teams to use solutions and recognise failure conditions. Technology environment : The role spans Rewst, PowerShell, REST APIs, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Graph, Azure, Intune, Datto RMM, GetThread, Windows and Active Directory, n8n, Power Automate, Make, Copilot Studio, Claude, ChatGPT and Codex. You are not expected to know every platform on day one, but you must be able to choose tools thoughtfully and learn quickly. About you: Skills & Experience: Essential: Experience in automation engineering within an MSP or enterprise environment. Strong PowerShell scripting and automation development skills. Experience with: Microsoft 365 Azure Intune Power Platform RMM and PSA platforms Experience building API integrations and workflow automations. Knowledge of AI platforms and automation technologies. Desirable: Microsoft Copilot implementation experience. Azure AI Services experience. OpenAI integration experience. Power Automate advanced development. Logic Apps development. Data analytics and reporting experience. Experience delivering customer-facing consulting engagements. AI governance or responsible AI framework experience.
