Storage & Server Architect As an Storage & Server Architect you would be a key part of the Infrastructure unit and have overall responsibility to design, maintain and provide 2& 3 line support for all Storage & Systems hardware, Operating & Virtualisation Software, Open source and application integration. You would work towards providing a 24/7 support system. Ensure maximum availability of core systems and that performance monitoring is in place and appropriate system capacity planning is undertaken. You would also ensure that required DR and BCP provisions exist and are tested regularly. Maintenance of Infrastructure Provide storage & server hardware, virtualisation,services management, enable technical innovation that can create business value to assist with the company’s requirements and expectations. Lead large technology initiatives to build and maintain key elements of the company’s infrastructure and associated product portfolio, including but not limited to 24x7 data centre infrastructure management and evolution, remote access services and enterprise-scale database environments. Carry out annual technology and user audits. Manage the provision and maintenance of 3 party infrastructure to agreed SLA’s including hosting, personal computing support and networking at all major NGC locations. Manage all NGC owned servers, switches, firewalls and routers. Maintain appropriate licenses and subscriptions for computer hardware and software. IT Governance Manage system security, performance monitoring and alerting, ensure appropriate backups are in place and retained for all systems. Ensure a disaster recovery arrangement is maintained, as required in collaboration with the compliance team and operations are in place to ensure compliance during business continuity events. Work with Compliance Director in the development, adoption and enforcement of Information Security policies, procedures and standards. Work with the Network and Security Architect to ensure appropriate security, patching, maintain secure Internet connectivity & private network connection to/from our partners, customers and other Data & Financial Clearing House Work with Database and Development team for all compute, server and storage providing requirement & 24/7 availability. Complete annual reviews and internal audit of required ISO 27001, 9001 and 22301 standards. Competency Profile Extensive knowledge of data centre operations, , network engineering, datacentre applications, client/server computing and production operations support. Specific technologies of note include Microsoft Server & Linux Operating System. Experience with mid tier storage hardware & appliance is essential, more specifical experience with IBM Storage V37xx & V50xx series will be beneficial. Infrastructure applications, Networking, VMware, Firewall, Security and/or Enterprise-level SANs. Experience with Cloud Services & Provisioning (Experience of Oracle Cloud would be preferential) Ability to lead cross functional project teams in implementing projects of a complex nature. START: ASAP CLEARANCE: SC RATE: £25.15 PER HOUR (INSIDE IR35) LOCATION: CARTERTON Migration Set-up Set-up Refresh Clinic Move the required quantity of devices as instructed by the Contractor Engineer and Site Manager from the onsite storage location to the Refresh Clinic location Login to any system as required via device(s) provided by the contractor's engineer and Site Manager and under their instructions Refresh laptops Collect existing devices from users and handover new devices in accordance with the migration schedule and project processes Handover and collect the correct number of devices each in accordance with the migration schedule Correctly update the Contractor's workflow management system at all relevant steps Report issues arising from migration activity promptly and accurately to the contractor Engineer and Site Manager Where issues cannot be resolved immediately, pass them over to an onsite Post Migration Support Engineer Conduct manual stock checks daily and report findings to the contractor Engineer and site Manager Place existing devices collected from users at the Refresh Clinic within the packaging that was used to contain a new device and in accordance with the device Designation Rules mark the outside of the box to indicate whether it is for "disposal" or for Refurbishment At the end of each day, move all the devices and equipment into the onsite storage location. Will need to attend Derby Sites and possible other remote sites subject to the project demands Will need to be flexible to work out of hours Will need to be onboarded to RR Subs Build & Test * Build up to 1800 x Windows 11 devices to meet the agreed deployment schedule. * Current build facilities will support throughput of approximately 250x devices per week. * Perform Rolls-Royce mandated testing procedure for all new builds including required patch updates & application installations linked to the build. * Perform a Pilot deployment to test the Supplier process & ensure the new device/build meets expected requirements/standards. Device Deployment * Physically preparing the devices for shipment and loading for transportation * Devices will be deployed to up to 50x identified device owners per day as per the agreed deployment schedule. * Most remote sites have under 50x devices to replace, therefore, the rate per day will drop for those sites due to location constraints. * Deployments will take place in hours. * Ensure the new device is working correctly and obtain Rolls-Royce representative sign off. * Provide Early Life Support for 1x day, immediately following each scheduled block of deployment events. * Collection of Legacy devices from desks and delivery back to Raynesway storage area. ready for decommission/disposal. Mop-Up: * Complete the re-arranged deployment and collect the replaced device. Decommission * All legacy devices shall be retained for a period of 3x weeks following replacement & return to Raynesway storage facility, at which point the device will be deemed ready for decommission if no request for data recovery has been received from the targeted user. * Following the 3x weeks holding period, the disk drives/memory will be removed from all devices in readiness for Supplier disposal. * The disk drives/memory will then be sent for on-site disposal following the standard Rolls-Royce disposal method.
