Application Decommissioning Consultant Responsibilities * Define information requirements and assessment templates across each technical workstream. * Develop and maintain an integrated Dependency Register. * Define comprehensive decommissioning Runbook templates covering technical workstreams, governance approvals and backup requirements. * Challenge and reconcile conflicting information received from different SME groups. * Define the recommended decommissioning approach for each application. * Identify prerequisites, dependencies, sequencing considerations and activities required for execution. * Develop a high-level decommissioning roadmap and execution strategy. * Review and update the Decommissioning Strategy, including governance, RACI, approval gates and success criteria. * Produce consolidated Assessment Reports and supporting discovery deliverables. * Develop the Decommissioning Entry Criteria Checklist. * Facilitate technical discovery workshops across multiple SME groups. Application Decommissioning Consultant Skills and Experience * Proven application decommissioning, retirement, rationalisation or technology modernisation experience is essential. * Experience of application/technology consulting, application rationalisation, transformation or IT Service Management experience. * Strong understanding of complex enterprise application landscapes and technical dependencies. * Experience working across Application, Infrastructure, Network, Database, Security, Integration and Operations teams. * Strong knowledge of Java/web applications, APIs, integrations and databases. * Understanding of batch processing, cloud infrastructure and network dependencies. * Knowledge of IAM, Active Directory, certificates, monitoring and operational tooling. * Strong application dependency mapping and impact assessment experience. * Experience facilitating technical workshops involving multiple SME groups. * Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. * Ability to challenge technical findings, identify gaps and reconcile conflicting information across technical workstreams. Based on site in Reading, you'll play an important role in monitoring system health, identifying potential issues and providing responsive first-line support within a highly secure environment. You'll have the autonomy to investigate alerts, use monitoring insights to solve problems and contribute to service improvements, while collaborating with experienced technical teams when more complex challenges arise.
