The role of a fullstack developer consists of carrying out several types of tasks on both the front-end and back-end interfaces of a website. To practice this profession, the professional doesn't need to master front-end or back-end perfectly. They just need to be able to work on both interfaces and understand how each one works. It is therefore a hybrid profession that is very successful with startups and the IT world. When we talk about a website's front-end, we're referring to the part that users interact with. This can include dropdown menus, JavaScript portions, CSS, in short, the visible part of the site. As for the back-end, it refers to the internal or hidden part of the site. You don't see it when browsing the pages, but it's what makes everything work, as it includes the database and server. Without this part, there would be no website.

The full-stack developer works simultaneously on the front end and back end of a mobile application or website. They are a generalist who does the work of both back-end and front-end developers. In other words, they manage projects involving databases and shape the user interface of websites. They plan projects with their clients when planning what the site or app will look like. One of their missions is to analyze the project's feasibility. For this, they take into account the objectives, internal recommendations, and user experience. They are therefore not just a programmer coding in isolation: the full-stack developer interacts with their clients on the project to be carried out. As part of the analysis, they express their needs in terms of human and technical resources through specifications. In short, they study users' needs and translate them technically. Besides analyzing the project's feasibility, the full-stack developer lists the essential elements of the interface to be shaped. This is a key step in creating the site. They listen to the client to understand their expectations and choose the best technical means to fulfill their wishes. The full-stack developer seeks the right balance between productivity and efficiency. Generally, they don't code the site alone, unless they work as a freelancer. Most often, they work on both front and back end indifferently to solve specific needs. Once the interface is designed, the developer ensures that it can evolve and remain efficient for as long as possible. Their versatility allows them to evolve the project as needed and according to user requirements. It is also part of the full-stack developer's duties to prevent and correct bugs and other failures as quickly as possible.

The fullstack developer must possess a certain number of skills to be effective in their work. First, they must have technical skills such as mastery of HTML, CSS, JavaScript to work on the front-end and Ruby, PHP and Python languages to work on the back-end. In a way, they must be a chameleon in development. In addition to mastering these programming languages, the developer must also know the technologies used by mobile applications such as mobile or iOS. Mastery of SQL language would also be a plus, as well as a broad general knowledge in the field of computing.
