You'll develop SCADA systems, program PLCs, create and enhance advanced control techniques (including PID, AI, and machine learning approaches), and support instrumentation and inspection tools used across global manufacturing sites. You'll collaborate with cross-functional R&D and production teams to drive process improvements, troubleshoot complex challenges, and support both on-site and remote operations. Some occasional overseas travel may be required. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial process control, be strong with PLC and SCADA systems, and have a solid understanding of electrical/electronic principles. Candidates must have full right to work in the UK, be commutable to Lathom, and have excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and good project/time management capabilities. The Special Projects team: You will be appointed to a newly established project team, assuming leadership responsibility for the delivery of individual work packages. Reporting directly to the Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will be accountable for ensuring the rigorous derivation and execution of the programme to achieve a robust and effective solution. Your responsibilities will include the meticulous planning of activities, providing sound and realistic completion estimates, and integrating appropriate risk mitigation measures to proactively address potential challenges. The position will be based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire on a five-day working pattern with occasional travel to other customer, manufacturing and test and evaluation sites.
