Infrastructure Architect
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Infrastructure Architect to join a leading organisation based in Walsall. This role will provide infrastructure architecture and design for complex projects / programme whilst ensuring consistency with the companies EA, governance processes, principles and standards. This role will need someone with a broad experience of IT architecture to manage the high level design process and ensure that project designs fit with the businesses architecture strategy and roadmap. The Infrastructure architect will get involved in significant IT change programmes to lead the development of the technical architecture and manage the technology risks associated with the projects. The successful candidate will additionally provide 'pre-project' consultancy and advice to shape solutions and develop estimates, and will be called on to use their skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of enterprise architecture and technology standards and patterns This position is ideal for an ambitious professional with a strong background in IT architecture, looking to make a significant impact on complex projects and programmes. Responsibilities Included: Lead the development of all aspects of the technical architecture and design for complex change projects/programmes. Manage the high-level design process and ensure project designs fit with the company's architecture strategy and roadmap. Engage with business stakeholders and provide consultancy on technical solution options. Establish and maintain infrastructure roadmaps, including hardware, operating systems, and networking. Communicate technology designs to a variety of stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding. Experience: Five+ years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations. Broad technical experience with an in depth understanding of application development & design, system integration, infrastructure. Proven experience of creating architecture designs using a formal architecture framework methodology - i.e. TOGAF / Zachman. Experience of working in a structured project environment. Experience of a regulated industry Exposure to business analysis or business strategic planning. Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and deployment environments. Skills and Attributes: Proven experience in at least two IT disciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture environment Strong understanding of application development, system integration, and infrastructure Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences. Strong team player with good interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation. Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions effectively. Salary: Up to £60,000 (dependent on skills and experience) What you'll be doing: Lead and conduct early lifecycle engineering activities, including technical investigations, root cause analysis and feasibility studies. Apply engineering theory/technical knowledge to support findings and recommendations Define equipment/system technical requirements and acceptance routes. Apply and manage requirements to drive the development of design solutions for marine mechanical equipment and systems Undertake design substantiation via calculation for marine mechanical systems and equipment.
