Systems Engineer Thornbury, Bristol Hybrid - 3 days per week on site (Commutable from Bristol, Gloucester, Newport, Cardiff, Bath, Stroud, Cheltenham and Weston-super-Mare) £50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus + Hybrid Working + Chartership and INCOSE Support + Training + Progression Are you a Systems Engineer from a defence, nuclear, aerospace or similarly regulated environment looking to broaden your project experience and develop within a client-facing consultancy? This is an excellent opportunity to join an independent Systems Engineering consultancy delivering complex programmes for major government and industrial clients. You will receive internal and external training, support towards professional accreditation and a personal development plan built around your long-term ambitions. The business operates across defence, civil nuclear, space and utilities, supporting projects from early research and concept development through to requirements, architecture, integration, verification and final acceptance. In this role, you will work directly with clients to understand complex problems, shape systems-engineering activities and deliver technical outputs. Projects may include concept studies, requirements development, system architecture, modelling, safety, integration and V&V, depending on your existing strengths. This position would suit an adaptable Systems Engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity, communicates confidently with different stakeholders and wants to develop into a trusted engineering consultant. The Role: *Deliver client-facing Systems Engineering across complex, regulated programmes *Support concept development, requirements, architecture, modelling and analysis *Contribute to integration, validation, qualification and acceptance activities *Take ownership of technical work packages, planning and stakeholder coordination *Work across defence, nuclear, space and utilities projects The Person: *Systems Engineering experience across one or more stages of the lifecycle *Background within defence, nuclear, aerospace or another complex engineering environment *Comfortable resolving ambiguity and communicating with clients and technical stakeholders *DOORS, MBSE, SysML, MODAF or similar tools and approaches beneficial *Technical degree or equivalent professional experience Hybrid working, normally involving three days per week split between the Thornbury office and client sites. Individual assignments may require additional client-site attendance, particularly during their early stages. Applicants must hold a driving licence and be willing to travel when required. Due to the security requirements of the available programmes, applicants must be sole UK nationals and eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance. Existing SC clearance would be advantageous. This includes tracking against the project plan (where relevant) and ensuring on time delivery. • Daily enforcement of guidelines, best practices and standards of website processes and web asset production. • Collaborate with internal and external partners on optimizing performance & ROI of website as a core acquisition & retention channel across EMEA by delivering against KPI's (registrations, active users, activation & adoption rates, etc.) Experience required: • Experience within an EMEA-wide website team as a technical producer or project/production manager • Proven experience managing and collaborating with web developers. • Technical knowledge about website technologies / infrastructures • Experience with project management principles and practices (Agile, Kanban) • Some knowledge of website design principles and UX frameworks • Experience of working with in house product and engineering teams • Experience managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities. • Marketing POC for BAU website changes and project requests • Scheduling and resource management in collaboration with Lead Developer • Two-way communication with development and marketing teams for any issues, feedback or queries related to ongoing work The ideal profile we are looking for is: • Has worked with multi-regional, multi-language web properties at an enterprise level. • Has project management experience, working within Agile/Kanban principles. • Clear and confident communicator, able to distil “development speak” into non-technical terms and vice-versa. • Broadly aware of the specific legal and risk sensitivities involved with financial institutions.
