Data Business Analyst – 1 month contract – Exeter My Customer is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Data Business Analyst to join their team. This role will be key in helping the business understand how data is captured, stored, and used across systems — and in driving improvements to data quality and processes. As a Data Business Analyst, you will work closely with teams across the business to map out current data practices, highlight opportunities for improvement, and establish consistent standards for how they manage and use data. Key Skills from the Data Business Analyst Experience as a Business Analyst , Data Analyst , or similar role with a focus on data and process improvement. Strong understanding of data management, governance, and quality principles. Strong understanding of Data Quality – writing reports for recommendations on improved Data Quality and Data processes Strong experience setting up Data dictionaries Excellent communication skills — able to sit with teams, ask the right questions, and translate findings into clear documentation. Comfortable working across multiple business functions and systems. Familiarity with tools such as Excel, SQL, BI platforms, or data governance software (desirable). Key Responsibilities of the Data Business Analyst Engage with teams to understand how data is inputted and managed across different systems. Map existing data processes, data flows, and system dependencies. Identify which systems hold critical data and how that data is captured. Develop and maintain a comprehensive Data Dictionary to provide a single source of truth. Analyse data quality issues and create reports with actionable recommendations. Propose and document improvements to data input processes, standards, and governance practices. Collaborate with IT, operations, and business stakeholders to align on data best practices.
