This job role is within Digital Services and Technology in the Vehicle Certification Agency. The postholder leads on the development and delivery forming part of our core product set of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. This role reports into the Chief Digital & Information Officer and is part of a multi-disciplinary team who develop and manage a broad suite of digital products and applications. Your main duties will include but will not be limited to: Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of custom solutions using Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. Full-Stack Development: Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end components of applications, ensuring seamless integration and performance. Collaboration: Lead and work closely with external development teams to form a cohesive hybrid development team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Solution Delivery: Oversee the delivery of digital solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and are delivered on time and within budget. Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and performance of developed solutions through rigorous testing and code reviews. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of development processes, code, and solutions for future reference and knowledge sharing. You will be responsible for working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, focussed on delivering high quality code in line with project goals and delivery cycles. You will also keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends, whilst delivering working software early and often, learning new languages and frameworks and picking the right solutions. A typical week in this role will consist of a blend of responsibilities, including: Performing code review. Providing mentoring and coaching to other team members. DevOps Senior Operations Engineer Our Client is looking to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer with at least 5 to 7 years expertise. They are a young talented team building the next generation video advertising platform. The key purpose of this role is focused on development in the capacity of improvements to the systems and operational environment by scripting, automation or building of tools. There are several key areas that require constant development: • Automation – Enhancements to the automation build process. Enhancements are continuously added to the base repository as well as additions of new technologies. • Scripting and Tools – There are many processes, tasks that can be made easier using scripts or custom designed tools in a managed services environment. We are looking for someone with knowledge of networking and storage, virtualization and operating systems, as well as good knowledge of the Architecture side of the role. Ideal skills and experience - what are you bringing to the party? • Experience working in operations - making sure the wheels are greased and the ship is humming along • Automation, Packaging, Deployments (Custom Hypervisor, Puppet, Git, scripting, CI services) • Source Code version control systems: Git & SVN • Monitoring: NewRelic, PagerDuty, etc • Programming Languages: Bash, PHP, GoLang • Virtualisation: We have a custom hypervisor (ZPF) but things like VMWare ESXi/KVM/oVirt/RHEV • Classics: Apache, MySQL, Redis, Varnish • Logstash & Elasticsearch • Networking (switching, routing, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, load balancing, DNS, Cisco, F5, Akamai) • Multi cloud setup - AWS, Digital Ocean, Rackspace, Linode etc • DNS, NTP, SMTP, Jenkins • A solid background in Linux System Administration Functions and responsibilities This is a dynamic and varied role, which includes things like: • Build, deployment and maintenance of new and existing environments • Designing and maintaining highly available architectures • Security (patch management, vulnerability scanning & monitoring) • Uptime – design and maintain the systems and networking for uptime, resilience, architecting for failure. • Evaluation of new, cutting-edge technologies to help improve business processes and streamline • Develop highly-available, scalable, robust systems and take ownership of problems as they occur • Undertake ad-hoc out of business hours work for occasional technical support The salary for this role will be in the range £60K - £80K.
