This job role is within Digital Services and Technology in the Vehicle Certification Agency. The postholder leads on the development and delivery forming part of our core product set of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. This role reports into the Chief Digital & Information Officer and is part of a multi-disciplinary team who develop and manage a broad suite of digital products and applications. Your main duties will include but will not be limited to: Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of custom solutions using Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. Full-Stack Development: Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end components of applications, ensuring seamless integration and performance. Collaboration: Lead and work closely with external development teams to form a cohesive hybrid development team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Solution Delivery: Oversee the delivery of digital solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and are delivered on time and within budget. Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and performance of developed solutions through rigorous testing and code reviews. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of development processes, code, and solutions for future reference and knowledge sharing. Information security: You can maintain the security, confidentiality and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. You will be responsible for working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, focussed on delivering high quality code in line with project goals and delivery cycles. As well as this you will be setting the standards for technical excellence within a team of Developers and fostering an environment where team members are supported and can come to you for guidance and feedback. As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical direction within the team to identify the best technology, solutions and industry standard Agile methodologies and embed and enhance practices such as Test- Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps. You will also keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends, whilst delivering working software early and often, learning new languages and frameworks and picking the right solutions. A typical week in this role will consist of a blend of responsibilities, including: Performing code review. Providing mentoring and coaching to other team members. Prioritising work in line with deliverables and project goals. Writing code. Writing unit tests. Offering technical advice on software architecture and technology choices. Providing guidance to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Identifying and fixing faults. Providing technical assurance.

About the role As a Product Designer, you'll run and help scale our creative design approach used to deliver our HR & Payroll products and services. Design innovation and consumer grade experiences are at the heart of what we do to ensure we keep at the cutting edge of user experience and ahead of our competitors. You'll be involved in all stages of the design process, from concepting and prototyping to working closely with Product Developers. User first principles will be high on your agenda, but we push creative boundaries whilst considering the practicalities of what can be delivered. You'll live and breathe creativity. Please note this is a 12 month fixed-term contract based in our Bristol office on a hybrid basis. Key responsibilities will include: Innovating and evolving our products user experiences by applying user-centric design and strong systems thinking to deliver a best-in-class user experience. Creating and managing a brand illustration system for Zellis covering our flagship products. Ensuring our design system meets and leads accessibility standards by applying solid understanding of accessibility criteria and best practices. Utilising creative design techniques to look beyond the obvious and provide different design options to a given problem. Collaborating with the Front-End Developers to bridge the gap between design and engineering to ensure experience-driven outcomes. Utilising other mediums (e.g. motion design, moving image and presentations) to help communicate concepts, ideas and product promotion. Creating innovative user interface designs in response to requirements that are intuitive and have considered user needs, support product innovation, technology requirements, and business needs. Working closely with our product team to ensure designs support product visions. Working at pace whilst not compromising on accuracy and quality of execution. Working closely with Front-End Developers (especially with regards to material 3) to create components ready for usage in products. Utilising the style guides, pattern libraries, component versioning, shared vocabularies, design linters, overall governance, and approvals. Evangelising our creative design throughout the organisation.
