One of our important clients based in Brussels is currently looking for a Mainframe System Analyst (Property & Casualty Retail Insurance) for a 12-month contract. Day rate is negotiable.

Description

We are looking for a skilled Mainframe System Analyst with strong experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) Retail Insurance to join our Agile team.

In this role, you will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and IT, ensuring that business needs are accurately translated into technical requirements and delivered effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements for small to medium-sized initiatives

• Analyse and understand the IT application landscape, including frontend and backend integrations

• Clearly document functional and technical requirements for development teams

• Ensure a strong understanding of how application components interact across systems

• Prepare and execute test activities to validate deliverables

• Work closely within an Agile team, including Product Owners, architects, developers, and fellow analysts

• Communicate effectively with both onshore and offshore teams

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in:

• Business Analysis within P&C Retail Insurance (non-negotiable — no banking or life insurance)

• Mainframe environments (IMS, COBOL, DB2)

Strong technical knowledge of:

• COBOL (including reviewing code changes from offshore teams)

• DB2

• IMS

Solid understanding of:

• Application architecture and system integrations

• End-to-end application flows

Proven ability to:

• Deliver structured, precise, and high-quality analysis

• Work effectively in Agile environments

Languages

• French: Fluent (primary language for internal communication)

• English: Professional level (for offshore collaboration)
