Quality Engineer (Inside IR35)

Location: Telford - 2 days per week on site
Contract: ASAP - 31/12/26

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a large-scale central government programme delivering modern, high-quality digital services. You will work as part of an agile scrum team (4-8 engineers) operating in two-week sprints, helping to ensure solutions meet the highest quality standards across a range of technologies.

• Frontend: Remix, React, JavaScript

• Backend: Java, Spring, .NET

• Data: MongoDB, Oracle

• Tools: RabbitMQ, JSON

• Design and implement test automation frameworks and solutions from the ground up

• Apply TDD/BDD methodologies and risk-based testing approaches

• Support CI/CD pipelines and promote shift-left quality practices

• Coach and mentor engineers on quality engineering best practices

• Conduct testing across all levels (Unit, Integration, System, Non-Functional)

• Analyse business requirements to define effective test strategies

• Manage test data and maintain testing collateral

• Collaborate in development activities through pair programming

• Strong background in software testing and quality engineering

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Proficiency with Git/GitLab

• Excellent communication and coaching skills

• Strong stakeholder management abilities

• Quality-first mindset

• Experience with automation tools (JUnit, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber)

• Familiarity with performance testing (Gatling) and security testing (OWASP Zap)

• Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS)

• Accessibility testing expertise (WCAG, Wave, Axe)
