HMRC delivers services used by millions of people across the UK, and this role plays a key part in making sure the cloud platforms behind those services are reliable, secure and efficient.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll support the day-to-day operation of HMRC’s cloud platforms, ensuring high levels of reliability, performance and security.

This includes monitoring systems, resolving incidents, improving platform performance, and driving automation to reduce manual effort. You’ll also work closely with engineering teams to maintain CI/CD pipelines, implement Infrastructure as Code, and ensure platforms meet security and compliance standards.

You’ll help standardise processes, improve resilience, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across platform teams.

Candidate profile

What we’re looking for
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, incident management and root cause analysis
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab)
• Scripting skills (e.g. Python, Bash or Go)
• Experience working with Linux systems
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work across teams
