If you’re passionate about building scalable platforms, driving DevOps culture, and leading teams to deliver faster and smarter, this is your chance to do it at national scale.

Join Companies House and play a key role in powering the infrastructure behind essential UK services. You’ll help teams deploy with confidence, improve reliability, and continuously evolve how digital services are delivered.

About the role

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Platform/DevOps), you’ll lead the design, build and continuous improvement of platform infrastructure across Companies House. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape how infrastructure is delivered, embed DevOps best practice, and support teams to build and run services reliably at scale.

You’ll work closely with engineers, architects and stakeholders to create robust, secure and scalable solutions, while leading technical workstreams and supporting colleagues across the organisation. Flexible working is at the heart of this role, with remote options available across the UK and a strong focus on work-life balance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the delivery of platform infrastructure and tooling to support continuous delivery

  • Build, maintain and improve cloud-based infrastructure and services

  • Work closely with delivery teams to support environments, configurations and CI/CD pipelines

  • Turn technical designs into practical, scalable solutions alongside architects and stakeholders

  • Develop and manage infrastructure as code and automated deployment pipelines

  • Drive best practice across DevOps, improving reliability, performance and security

  • Support and mentor engineers, helping solve complex technical challenges

  • Lead technical workstreams and ensure alignment with organisational goals

  • Identify and explore emerging technologies to continuously improve services

  • Contribute to a strong, collaborative engineering culture
