Mission Objective:
As a TypeScript Developer, you will design, build, and operate data bridges and platform enablers, taking features from the initial business requirement through production.
You will collaborate closely with business analysts, product owners, system owners, and fellow engineers. Success in this role requires understanding not only how data flows are implemented, but also why they exist and the business value they deliver.
This is primarily a backend engineering role. You will develop services in TypeScript on Node.js, deployed to Azure Kubernetes Service through a fully automated CI/CD pipeline powered by GitHub and ArgoCD. We practice continuous delivery, automate testing extensively, and operate the services we build.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Functional analysis
o Work with business analysts, product owners and system owners to understand the business need behind an integration.
o Analyze source and target systems, defining data mappings, transformation rules, edge cases, and error-handling scenarios.
o Translate requirements into clear functional and technical specifications and testable acceptance criteria.
o Challenge requirements when they are incomplete, inconsistent or do not align with the underlying data model or architectural principles.
• Development
o Build data bridges and enablers including event producers, event consumers, connectors, APIs, and processing services that exchange data through the Event Data Hub.
o Develop and enhance shared platform enablers, SDKs, libraries, and reusable services used by other engineering teams.
o Implement event-driven and event-sourced solutions in accordance with established architectural standards and coding practices.
o Deliver high-quality software through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
• Operations and quality
o Deploy changes regularly through automated delivery pipelines.
o Monitor applications and integrations using observability and alerting tools.
o Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve integration and data-quality issues across distributed systems.
o Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices, tooling, and documentation.
o Ensure data is handled securely and in compliance with company standards.
Candidate profile
Knowledge & Experience:
Required
• Around 3 to 5 years of professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a cross-functional team.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated functional analysis skills: gathering requirements, modelling data, writing specifications, and discussing solutions with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building backend services, workers or integrations: APIs, message consumers, data transformation.
• Comfortable with SQL and at least one NoSQL or messaging technology.
• Experience with automated testing and a habit of testing your own code.
• Working knowledge of Docker, CI/CD and cloud environments (Azure preferred).
• Understanding of the basics of distributed systems: idempotency, retries, ordering, eventual consistency.
• Fluent in English.
Nice to have
• Experience with event-driven architecture, event sourcing, CQRS or projections.
• Experience with Azure Event Hubs, Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
• Knowledge of Protobuf/gRPC and schema versioning.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and GitOps (ArgoCD).
• Exposure to clean/hexagonal architecture and dependency injection.
• Background in transport, rail or another operations-heavy domain.
• Experience working effectively with AI-assisted development tools.
