Context

A last-mile delivery organization is seeking an experienced technology leader for a six-month interim assignment. The role reports functionally to the Group Chief Digital Officer and operationally to the Managing Director of the relevant business unit.

The assignment is intended to strengthen technology leadership effectiveness, improve delivery predictability, and enhance budget efficiency across the Technology organization. It focuses on stabilizing and improving delivery performance, strengthening leadership accountability, increasing transparency towards business stakeholders, and ensuring optimal use of technology investments. The role is not intended to define long-term technology strategy, but to accelerate operational effectiveness and establish a strong foundation for sustainable performance improvement.

Mission

Lead operational improvements across technology delivery, leadership effectiveness, governance, and financial management. Build stronger alignment between Technology, Operations, and Business stakeholders, and provide executive-level advice and reporting throughout the assignment.

Principales responsabilités

• Coach and support the Technology Leadership Team in accountability, ownership, and execution excellence.

• Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision-making authority; identify leadership, organizational, and capability gaps and define improvement actions.

• Foster performance, ownership, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement across Technology, Operations, and Business functions.

• Assess delivery practices, governance, planning, and portfolio management processes.

• Establish and monitor delivery performance indicators and reporting mechanisms; improve planning accuracy, capacity management, and delivery forecasting.

• Reduce delivery risks, delays, and execution bottlenecks; strengthen portfolio governance and prioritization.

• Increase transparency on progress, dependencies, risks, and business outcomes.

• Review the Technology budget, cost structure, and resource allocation; identify and validate cost optimization and efficiency opportunities across teams, vendors, and initiatives.

• Strengthen budget governance, forecasting, and financial performance management, and support value-based investment prioritization.

• Implement cost-efficiency improvements while maintaining service quality and delivery commitments.

• Evaluate the operating model and governance structures, simplifying processes, decision-making, and escalation paths where appropriate.

• Act as a trusted advisor to the management team and provide regular executive reporting on delivery performance, budget efficiency, risks, and improvement initiatives.

• Facilitate alignment between Technology leadership, Business stakeholders, and Group Digital & Technology functions; support decisions with clear, fact-based recommendations and performance insights.

• 12–18 month improvement roadmap, recommendations for long-term capability development and governance, and a structured handover to permanent leadership.

Profil recherché

Expérience

• 15+ years of experience in senior Technology, IT, or Digital leadership roles.

• Proven track record improving delivery performance in complex operational environments and leading technology transformations and organizational performance improvement initiatives.

• Demonstrated success developing senior leadership teams.
