Job description – Initiative Owner in Business Continuity

Context and objective of the mission

Business Continuity Management (BCM) aims to anticipate and support the management of crisis situations that could interrupt essential operations or harm the organization's image. BCM defines, implements and continuously improves the framework for organizational and operational resilience to ensure that critical banking services remain available at acceptable predefined levels, even in the event of major disruption.

To support the continuous enhancement of the BCM framework and the implementation of strategic improvement initiatives, a major banking institution is looking for an experienced Initiative Owner to join its BCM & CI department.

Main responsibilities

• Lead and deliver multiple BCM transformation and improvement projects to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and maturity of the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS)
• Deliver validated solutions directly with a hands-on mindset
• Develop and implement simplification initiatives to streamline BCM processes, reduce administrative burden and improve stakeholder experience
• Review existing BCM processes and deliverables, including Business Recovery Plans and related processes, and propose pragmatic improvements
• Engage with BCM & CI team members, including Business Continuity Officers and management team members, to gather requirements and ensure alignment
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to collect input, challenge existing practices and formalize project objectives, deliverables, milestones and success criteria
• Coordinate project activities and ensure timely delivery of agreed outcomes
• Prepare status reports, dashboards and management updates for the BCM Management Team
• Monitor project risks, dependencies and issues, and propose mitigating actions where required
• Act as the primary point of contact for all questions related to the projects under responsibility
• Support change management and communication activities to ensure successful adoption of implemented improvements

Profile required

Education
• Master's degree or equivalent experience

Experience
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in Project Management and/or Business Continuity
• Mandatory experience in project management involving multiple stakeholders
• Mandatory experience in business continuity management and implementation

Technical and methodological skills
• Program Management certification: Agile, PRINCE2 or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of Business Continuity Management and BCMS-related transformation initiatives

Languages
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in Dutch, French and English

Nice to have
• Demonstrated experience in process optimization, simplification and operational efficiency initiatives
• Experience within the banking or financial services sector
• Certification by an accredited institution in Business Continuity is an asset, such as BCI or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer
