As a Senior Infrastructure Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architectural vision and strategy both for future projects and day to day operations.

You will play a key role in the leadership on all things related to IT Infrastructure across DVSA leading the design, development, and implementation of high-quality technical solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

Your expertise will guide the technical direction of projects, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.

Job description

This role will be within the platform team and the successful candidate will help ensure the agency is at the leading edge of technology, security, and all infrastructure components are running optimal.  The main duties of this role will be to lead the support, Development, governance and insourcing of the MS Dynamics infrastructure within the DVSA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, secure and improve the current Infrastructure specifically within Dynamics 365.

  • Work closely with the Powerplatform Development team.

  • Conduct Infrastructure reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance existing systems.

  • Develop and maintain architectural documentation.

  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues.

  • Assess the current infrastructure and look for opportunities to insource support when available.

  • Lead, Develop and support a team of Senior Infrastructure engineers.

Qualifications/licenses:

Hold or be willing to work towards

  • TOGAF v9+

  • Infrastructure Architecture qualifications

Required experience:

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  • Excellent understanding of Cloud hosting solutions (including hybrid integration) specifically AWS & Azure.

  • Excellent understanding IAC (Infrastructure as Code).

  • Thorough knowledge of authentication and access control, including Active Directory, SAML, LDAP and IAM.

  • Strong understanding of future developments in cloud computing and experience of re-platforming and Transformation.

  • Proven experience of designing and delivering technology strategy & architectural patterns.

  • Ability to understand and articulate the interactions between business functions, processes, and IT components, and how the individual parts interact with and impact the whole.

  • Knowledge, understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and its underlying infrastructure.

  • Experience of working in an Agile delivery environment.

Working environment

This role is part of the  and utilises an enhanced Capability Based Pay Framework which provides access to a Digital and Data allowance.   

The base pay is £54,857. In addition to this the role includes a Digital and Data allowance of up to £25,543.

The value of allowance awarded will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated through the selection process.   

  

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.

This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another DfT or agency workplace. The chosen principal workplace will be the designated place of work and any remote or home working arrangement does not constitute a change to the designated place of work or contractual terms and conditions. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation. Occasional travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
