Browsing Facebook at work might not be so troublesome soon with the social media company intending to launch it's workplace collaboration platform in the new year.

'Facebook for Work' is Facebook's answer to creating a professional working environment for it's popular social network that can be used for businesses to collaborate, share business updates and generally communicate with fellow employees. Employees can create a special 'work' profile which distances itself from it's public profile so the balance between work and personal life can remain separate.

After spending a year in testing, the platform is intending to launch in a couple of months and will feature similar Facebook features such as a scrolling 'news feed', 'likes' and a chat service. The service is 'invite-only' at the moment but will be open to all companies once launched and will be free to use, with the exception of additional premium services such as analytics and customer support.

"I would say 95 percent of what we developed for Facebook is also adopted for Facebook at Work," said Julien Codorniou, director of global platform partnerships at Facebook.

Though if you were hoping this could be a sneaky way to play your favourite Facebook games at your desk than you're out of luck as it's not apart of the Facebook for Work platform.

"You cannot play Candy Crush on Facebook at Work."

Well, not whilst the boss is looking anyway.
