At DVLA, Software Development Engineers build automation software so teams can deliver products quickly and safely, and continually improve quality.

What you’ll do

As a Software Development Engineer you’ll be a key part of an agile squad using a behaviour‑driven approach (ATDD) to ensure software is tested, testable, resilient and well-supported.

You’ll work on brand new or newly transformed services, and you’ll:

Build and execute automated test frameworks
Work closely with product development teams in an agile environment
Share good engineering practices and help raise quality across the team
Collaborate with business analysts and delivery managers on user stories and tasks
Help ensure services remain resilient and supported

Candidate profile

Who this role is for

You’ll be a great fit if you’re an experienced developer who:

Is proficient in automation testing and can programmatically test software products
Has improved QA efficiency through automation and tooling
Proactively applies Continuous Testing principles to speed up feedback cycles
Enjoys working in fast‑paced agile teams, has high attention to detail, and is happy to challenge when needed
