Contractor job Platform Automation Engineer

Our defence client is looking for a Platform Automation Engineer to be based 2-3 days per week in Corsham. This is an initial contract until the end of March 2026 with good scope for long term extensions. An active SC/DV clearance would be required.

Essential skills, qualifications, and experience
In order to deliver this service, it is essential that individuals have:
* At least 12 months' demonstrable hands on experience within the last 3 years of:
o Creating complex PowerShell automation modules for production systems utilising at least PowerShell v4 as a minimum.
o Design, implementation and support of complex software and configuration management solutions using Python, Ansible, Terraform etc
o Automated deployment of server, network or storage technologies across multiple vendors.
o Building or supporting large Windows infrastructure environments.
o Working as part of an Agile development team.
* Demonstrable experience of:
o Deployment of complex application and infrastructure such as Solarwinds, Elk, VMware Horizon and VEEAM.
o Advanced PowerShell coding features e.g. Workflows, Desired State Configuration (DSC) and Bare Metal Deployment.
o Test driven development using tools such as Jenkins.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Advanced Automated Administration with Windows PowerShell (OD10962C) course or similar.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas.
* Competency in MS Office Suite.
