Job Title: Technical Delivery Manager

Salary: £49,000 - £65,500

Location: Cambridge, Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)

Contract: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Delivery Manager to lead the successful delivery of cloud-native and platform-based solutions that support our global assessment operations. Sitting within the Shred Solution areas, Exam Material area of our Exam Technology Organisation (ETO), this role is embedded in a cross-functional product team and plays a key part in ensuring technical delivery is aligned with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations.

As a Technical Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for enabling effective delivery across agile teams, managing dependencies, coordinating releases, and ensuring technical solutions are scalable, secure, and fit for purpose. You will work closely with Product Owners, developers, testers, and architects to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Candidate profile

About you

You are a proactive and technically minded delivery leader who understands how to translate business needs into effective technical execution. You bring a strong understanding of agile methodologies, cloud platforms, and software development processes, and you're comfortable working across multiple teams and time zones.

You'll have:
  • Proven experience in technical delivery management, project management, or agile coaching within a software development environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and experience facilitating Scrum or Kanban-based delivery activities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and DevOps engineers, without direct line management authority.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and their integration into delivery pipelines and architecture.
  • Ability to manage release planning, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication across complex delivery landscapes.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to present delivery concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing resource capacity and identifying skill gaps or augmentation needs.
  • A data-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement, experimentation, and learning.
  • Comfortable working with offshore and outsourced teams, with an appreciation of cross-time zone collaboration.
Desirable:
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar platforms.
  • Awareness of emerging AI tools and technologies and their potential impact on delivery practices.
  • Exposure to assessment technologies or exam board processes.
You'll be ideal for this role if you're comfortable working UK hours (09:00-17:00 BST, Monday to Friday), with occasional flexibility required to support releases or incidents outside of standard hours.
