We are hiring across two teams for this role, the National Data Library (NDL) and the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO).

The NDL will transform the way the Government manages its data supporting the successful delivery of the AI Opportunities Action Plan (AIOAP); the blueprint for modern digital government; and the Government’s missions on growth, clean energy, safety, opportunity and health. Achieving these ambitious outcomes would require close collaboration across the public sector and with various user groups.

The Technology Management team in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer provides expert advice on how the public sector uses technology and delivers improved outcomes for the government. This role in particular will be focused on delivering a new approach to how the public sector manages and remediates its legacy IT.

As a Senior delivery manager you will be responsible for driving delivery across multidisciplinary teams and will:

Oversee and manage the delivery roadmap products and services, facilitating an inclusive team environment where innovation and challenge are welcomed from all colleagues.

  • work in partnership with product and technical leads on high profile work in ambiguous, complex and/or uncertain domains

  • communicate status to more senior people and users appropriately including useful and accurate delivery metrics to facilitate continual improvement and resource planning.

  • focus on driving successful delivery through Agile practices, collaborative workshops, tackling risks and blockers and inclusive team ceremonies

  • develop, guide and coach others in your team, including line reports

  • manage stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and effective communication, taking into account organisational context and different needs and priorities, dealing constructively with conflicting views

  • ensure alignment on priorities and delivery across the directorate and teams in GDS
