What is this role?
This is an IT Delivery Manager role within HMRC’s Chief Digital & Information Office (CDIO), working in the Borders and Trade portfolio.
You’ll be responsible for delivering medium to large‑scale digital and IT change, working across HMRC teams and with external delivery partners to ensure products are delivered on time, to cost, and to quality.

What you’ll be doing
As an IT Delivery Manager, you will:
Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of one or more medium to large IT projects
Create and manage delivery plans, reporting progress clearly
Identify, manage and escalate delivery risks, issues and dependencies
Manage costs, budgets and commercial relationships with suppliers
Work across Agile and Waterfall delivery approaches
Remove blockers and enable teams to deliver effectively
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across HMRC and CDIO
Line manage and support Associate IT Delivery Managers
Coach teams and stakeholders in delivery management and Agile ways of working
Actively contribute to HMRC’s Delivery Manager community

Skills & experience
We’re looking for experience in:
Delivering medium to large IT or technical change programmes
Project and delivery governance, including planning and assurance
Risk, dependency and cost management
Supplier and commercial management
Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
Clear communication with technical and non‑technical audiences
Experience of HMRC delivery tools or lifecycle knowledge is desirable, but not essential.
