We are recruiting an Electronics Test Support Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Eastbourne.
This is a hands-on position supporting In-Circuit Test (ICT), Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and functional test systems within a busy electronics manufacturing environment. You will work closely with Test Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations to keep production test equipment running effectively, troubleshoot technical issues and help improve overall test reliability.
The role would suit an Electronics Test Engineer, Production Test Engineer, Manufacturing Test Engineer or experienced Test Technician who enjoys practical fault finding and working directly with electronic test equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day technical support for ICT and functional test stations.
- Troubleshoot test equipment, fixtures, probes, cables and measurement issues.
- Support the operation and maintenance of Keysight i3070 test systems.
- Carry out fault finding and basic repairs on test equipment and associated hardware.
- Diagnose false failures, intermittent faults and fixture/contact problems.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximise test equipment availability and minimise production downtime.
- Investigate production test failures and recurring technical issues.
- Support engineering changes affecting test systems and fixtures.
- Assist with test station improvements, upgrades and duplication.
- Work alongside senior Test Engineers on more complex technical problems.
- Maintain accurate records of faults, repairs and recurring issues.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations to support production requirements.
- Escalate complex issues with clear technical evidence and structured fault analysis.
We are looking for someone with around 3+ years' experience within electronics production, manufacturing test or a similar environment.
Ideally, you will have experience with:
- Electronics, electrical or test engineering.
- Production testing of electronic or electromechanical products.
- In-Circuit Test (ICT) systems.
- Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and/or functional test systems.
- PCB/PCBA testing and fault finding.
- Test fixtures, probes and interface hardware.
- Diagnosing intermittent failures and false test results.
- Reading electronic schematics and basic PCB layouts.
- Structured technical fault finding and problem solving.
Previous exposure to Keysight i3070 would be highly beneficial, although you do not need to be an i3070 expert.
An HNC, HND or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial, although relevant practical industry experience will also be considered.
The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to remain hands-on with electronics and test equipment while developing their knowledge of ICT, automated testing and production test engineering.
You will join an experienced engineering team within a technically advanced manufacturing environment, with opportunities to develop your test engineering capability while having a direct impact on production quality, equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Working environment
Our client is a well-established global engineering and manufacturing organisation developing highly engineered technology and electronic products for demanding industrial applications.
The Eastbourne site combines engineering, manufacturing and operational functions, giving engineers the opportunity to work directly with both the technology and the production environment. The business designs and manufactures complex electronic and electromechanical products, with a strong emphasis on product quality, reliability and continuous improvement.
The site operates a dedicated manufacturing test environment, using a combination of In-Circuit Test (ICT), automated test equipment (ATE) and functional testing to support electronic products through production. This includes PCB and PCBA testing, test fixtures, probing and measurement systems, fault diagnosis and ongoing maintenance of production test equipment.
This particular position sits within the Test Support Engineering team and works closely with Test Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations. The team is responsible for ensuring production test equipment remains reliable and available, investigating failures and recurring issues, and improving test capability across the manufacturing operation.
It is a hands-on engineering environment rather than a purely desk-based position. Engineers are expected to get involved directly with test stations, fixtures, electronic assemblies and production issues, working alongside both engineers and manufacturing operators to identify and resolve technical problems.
The organisation can offer:
- Established global engineering and manufacturing business
- Technically advanced electronics environment
