At CGI, we’re shaping the future of government services by building trusted partnerships, delivering complex transformation programmes and creating lasting value for our clients. As a Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading a significant portfolio of delivery engagements, strengthening strategic client relationships and expanding our presence across central government. You’ll take ownership of commercial performance, identify new growth opportunities and bring innovative thinking to some of the UK’s most important public sector challenges. Supported by a collaborative network of consulting, technology and delivery experts, you’ll have the autonomy to shape account strategy, drive sustainable growth and make a meaningful impact on essential government services while developing your own leadership career.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold existing UK Security Check (SC) clearance and be willing to undergo additional NPPV3 clearance. This is a hybrid position requiring attendance at CGI and client locations across the UK in line with business needs.

Candidate profile

In this senior leadership role, you will take ownership of a strategically important public sector portfolio, overseeing complex delivery engagements while developing new business opportunities across central government. You will be responsible for the commercial performance and successful management of a portfolio generating over £15 million in annual revenue across more than 20 concurrent projects. You will maintain strong client relationships, protect account profitability and ensure successful delivery while identifying opportunities for contract extensions, new engagements and sustainable growth.

You will work closely with senior government stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, anticipate emerging requirements and translate client insight into compelling business propositions. Collaborating with CGI’s consulting, delivery, architecture, commercial and bid teams, you will lead opportunities from initial identification through to successful contract award. You will also strengthen strategic supplier partnerships, develop competitive intelligence and explore new markets where CGI can deliver value. Supported by a collaborative leadership community, you will have the autonomy to shape account strategy, champion innovative approaches and build lasting relationships that strengthen CGI’s position as a trusted transformation partner.

- Take accountability for portfolio financial performance, including revenue, profitability, operating margins, forecasting accuracy and pipeline development

- Identify, qualify and shape new business opportunities, translating client priorities into compelling, commercially viable propositions

- Lead opportunity development, capture strategies and commercial negotiations, working closely with CGI’s bid and commercial teams to secure new contracts

- Monitor government procurement pipelines, emerging requirements, market developments and competitor activity to strengthen CGI’s competitive positioning

- Collaborate across CGI’s consulting, technology, architecture and delivery teams to develop innovative solutions that address complex client challenges

- Build and maintain strategic relationships with third-party suppliers, supporting commercial agreements and identifying opportunities for collaborative business development

- Identify opportunities to expand CGI’s services into adjacent government portfolios and emerging technology markets, including potential framework opportunities

- Support and develop a high-performing account team, encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement to deliver exceptional client outcomes

With the autonomy to influence account strategy and access to CGI’s extensive expertise, you will bring fresh thinking, commercial ownership and a commitment to delivering lasting client value.
