Job Vacancy Senior Platform Engineer

In this role, you will take ownership of the engineering, maintenance and continuous improvement of secure DevSecOps and Platform Operations environments supporting critical applications. Working across Continuous Improvement Teams, you will ensure the infrastructure underpinning software delivery is resilient, scalable and highly available. You'll apply your expertise in cloud technologies, containerisation, Infrastructure as Code and automation to improve deployment efficiency, strengthen security and minimise operational disruption.



You will also play a key role in advancing CGI's engineering practices, collaborating with developers, infrastructure specialists and security teams to embed automated testing, monitoring and security throughout the software delivery lifecycle. You'll be encouraged to challenge existing approaches, introduce innovative solutions and share your expertise within a supportive engineering community, helping improve platform performance while developing your technical capabilities.



Key responsibilities:



• Engineer & Maintain: Design, configure and manage secure, highly available platform infrastructure, ensuring scalability, resilience and reliable application delivery.

• Automate & Optimise: Develop automated infrastructure provisioning, configuration management and deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code.

• Monitor & Improve: Implement proactive monitoring, alerting and performance optimisation to maintain platform health, capacity and operational reliability.

• Secure & Protect: Embed DevSecOps principles throughout CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated security testing, vulnerability scanning and compliance validation.

• Develop & Enhance: Optimise CI/CD pipelines, streamline release processes and support shift-left testing to improve software quality and delivery efficiency.

• Troubleshoot & Resolve: Investigate complex infrastructure and platform incidents, implement effective resolutions and develop automated remediation to prevent recurring issues.

• Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with development, security and infrastructure teams to improve platform architecture, operational processes and engineering standards.

• Drive Continuous Improvement: Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, automation tools and DevSecOps practices, introducing improvements that enhance performance, security and efficiency.

• Support & Maintain: Participate in out-of-hours on-call support, ensuring timely incident response and the continued availability of critical services.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To succeed in this role, you should have strong experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps or DevSecOps, with the technical expertise to manage complex infrastructure environments and automate secure software delivery processes. You'll be confident working with cloud platforms, container technologies, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation, alongside a solid understanding of security, monitoring and incident management. Essential skills and experience:



• Platform Engineering: Proven experience designing, maintaining and improving secure, scalable and highly available infrastructure within Platform Engineering, DevOps or DevSecOps environments.

• Cloud & Containers: Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and container technologies including Docker and Docker Swarm.

• Infrastructure as Code: Experience automating infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform, ARM Templates or equivalent technologies.

• CI/CD Engineering: Experience developing, maintaining and optimising CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins or similar tools, alongside Git version control.

• Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash, with knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible.

• Monitoring & Observability: Experience using monitoring and performance management tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Dynatrace.

• Security & Compliance: Understanding of cloud and container security, identity and access management, vulnerability scanning and automated security controls.

• DevSecOps Practices: Knowledge of integrating security testing and compliance checks into software delivery pipelines, including static and dynamic application security testing.

• Security Frameworks: Familiarity with recognised security standards and frameworks, including OWASP and CIS Benchmarks.

• Incident Management: Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, with experience resolving infrastructure incidents and improving operational resilience.

• Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively across development, security and infrastructure teams, communicating technical information clearly and contributing to shared engineering objectives.
