Job Vacancy Cloud Architect

In this role, you will take ownership of designing, developing and delivering secure, scalable AWS cloud architectures that support business-critical applications and services. Working closely with engineering, development and security teams, you will translate complex requirements into innovative cloud solutions, ensuring high performance, resilience and security. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, introduce new approaches and help shape cloud strategies that deliver measurable value to our clients.

Key responsibilities include:

• Architect & Innovate: Design and deliver secure, highly available and scalable AWS cloud solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Develop & Deliver: Collaborate with engineering teams to build cloud-native applications using Node.js, TypeScript, AWS Lambda and GraphQL.

• Optimise & Automate: Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform and streamline deployment pipelines through GitHub Actions.

• Lead & Influence: Evaluate cloud strategies, recommend architectural improvements and guide technical decisions across projects.

• Secure & Protect: Embed information security principles, implement disaster recovery strategies and ensure cloud environments remain resilient.

• Migrate & Modernise: Provide technical guidance on cloud migration approaches, including large-scale application and infrastructure transitions.

• Troubleshoot & Improve: Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, continuously improving cloud performance, availability and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate & Share: Work with multidisciplinary teams, maintain architectural documentation and share knowledge to support technical excellence.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To succeed in this role, you will bring proven experience designing and delivering AWS cloud architectures, supported by strong software development and infrastructure automation skills. You'll combine technical expertise with a collaborative approach, confidently influencing architectural decisions and translating complex challenges into secure, practical solutions. Your ability to take ownership, explore innovative approaches and communicate effectively with stakeholders will be essential.



Essential qualifications and experience:

• AWS Cloud Architecture: Proven experience designing, implementing and managing secure, scalable AWS environments.

• Software Development: Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with experience developing cloud-native applications.

• Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience using Terraform to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.

• CI/CD & DevOps: Experience implementing automated build and deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions.

• Serverless & APIs: Practical knowledge of AWS Lambda, GraphQL, API Gateways and cloud-based integration patterns.

• Security & Resilience: Solid understanding of cyber operations, information security, disaster recovery and cloud security best practices.

• Programming Expertise: Experience with additional programming languages such as Python, Java or .NET.

• Cloud Migration: Experience supporting application modernisation, infrastructure migrations and cloud optimisation initiatives.

• Communication & Collaboration: Strong stakeholder engagement, presentation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions.

• Education: BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
