As an Applications Service Architect within our growing Scotland and Northern Ireland Business Unit, you'll play a pivotal role in designing innovative, commercially compelling service solutions that help secure new business and deliver lasting client value. You'll take ownership of service architecture across strategic opportunities, bringing together technical expertise, creative thinking and collaborative delivery approaches. Working alongside talented specialists across CGI, you'll have the freedom to influence solutions, strengthen our service offerings and develop your expertise within a supportive community that encourages innovation, professional growth and shared success.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position within CGI's Scotland and Northern Ireland Business Unit, involving collaboration with colleagues across the UK and occasional attendance at CGI or client locations.

Candidate profile

In this role, you will lead the service architecture and application management aspects of strategic business opportunities, helping CGI develop compelling, innovative and commercially viable solutions for clients across the public and private sectors. Working closely with bid teams, Solution Architects, delivery specialists and commercial stakeholders, you will take ownership of service design, operating models and delivery approaches, ensuring proposed solutions meet client requirements and demonstrate clear business value.

You will have the opportunity to influence how CGI develops and delivers next-generation managed services, introducing new ideas, strengthening service propositions and shaping effective transition and transformation strategies. Supported by a collaborative network of technical and business experts, you'll contribute to winning new opportunities, mentor colleagues and help advance CGI's Service Architecture capability while developing your own professional expertise.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead & Shape: Own the Application Services, Service Management and Service Delivery elements of bids, tenders, renewals and transformation opportunities, including managed services, IT outsourcing and systems integration.

• Design & Innovate: Develop end-to-end service architectures, operating models and delivery solutions that meet client requirements and support commercial competitiveness.

• Develop & Deliver: Produce compelling responses to Invitations to Tender (ITTs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and qualification submissions, clearly articulating CGI's proposed service solutions.

• Integrate & Collaborate: Work with technical architects, delivery teams, partners and suppliers to develop integrated solutions across applications, cloud, infrastructure, security and service management.

• Define & Assure: Translate functional and non-functional requirements into service designs, governance models, support structures, service levels and operational readiness plans.

• Optimise & Transform: Incorporate automation, continual improvement, Agile and DevOps practices to enhance application management and service delivery solutions.

• Manage & Evaluate: Coordinate service-related risks, assumptions, dependencies, estimates and cost inputs, ensuring solutions are achievable and commercially viable.

• Engage & Influence: Present service solutions to senior stakeholders and clients, confidently explaining proposed approaches and responding to technical and commercial challenges.

• Transition & Support: Shape service transition and implementation plans, ensuring effective governance, operational readiness and successful handover into live service.

• Mentor & Develop: Share expertise, support colleagues and contribute to reusable service propositions, best practices and the continued development of CGI's Service Architecture community.

Your analytical thinking, attention to detail and proactive approach will enable you to take ownership of challenging opportunities, while CGI's collaborative environment will support you in continuing to develop your expertise and career.

Essential skills and experience:

• Service Architecture: Proven experience designing, costing and documenting Application Management, Service Management or Service Delivery solutions for bids, programmes or client engagements.
