This happened to me a while back so i went limited a little harder to do a return than self employed but you can work anywhere easily and no questions abot tax or national Insurance
Seems strange they got you on PAYE this does however cover them from any nasty shocks from the inland revenue. If you are serious about freelanceing and you are getting busy become self employed or even better still a limited company there are a lot of ways of getting tax relief but can be a bit of a nightmare when you do your return. You may be entitled to holiday pay from your PAYE client if you work alot there
