Thanks for all your replies.
I have done a bit more research and it seems we have a winner. Great reccomendations Adam.F.
Nikon D40 it is, a great camera for a great price. And I say that without trying to sound like a nikon sales person.

Hi there freelanceuk dot com.
This is my first post in the forum, I have read through a lot of posts and there`s a lot of good advice on here.

Well...

I am new to freelance and photography and was wondering what camera to purchase in order to gain some photographic experience and also create a portfolio, on a seemingly limited budget.
The camera i have been thinking of purchasing is a Fuji S6500 from play dot com.
1)What do experienced photographers think of this camera as an entry level camera?
2)Is it best for me to save up some currency and buy a higher res. camera?

Any advice would be appreciated.
:)
