Thanks for that advice. My next question would be, how do I go about setting a price per page - should I relate it to how many pages I do per hour? I'm conscious that this could be a lengthy job but I don't want to put the client off by charging a hefty overall fee!
I've been asked to price up a job which will involve editing and proofing a 488 page book, containing just under 300,000 words.
My question is, how do I go about pricing this? Do I do it on an hourly rate (I'm guessing it will take rather a while!) or do I price it per word or per page? I'm used to editing and producing copy or writing press releases, for which I would charge by the hour.
I'm quite new to freelancing too - I have one long-term client on a freelance basis, while I also work part-time for an employer while I test the water..
With regards to NI contributions, it works out around £25 a quarter so not too bad.
Hope this helps.
