Hi There

Am afraid when you work as part of an in-house team of a company - corporate suites don't understand the requirements of designers and their environment - you wouldn't believe the environment I have to endure and I bet 90% of in-house designers will say the same

- the ipod is my saviour - with my freelance side line booming - I am planning to sack the suits and go it alone in the New Year

moto: - make money for yourself - not for others

You can always download free fax software to get a number - try Right Fax - this used to be free - not sure now - you should be able to get a number here - and faxes go direct to email

Dear All

I have been approached to design a web design workshop for 6 -7 year olds - eeeeeeeekkkkkkkk

I just want to make it quite basic and very hands on - with the aim to build the individuals own personal page with pics, text and colours.

Am not sure if I should be using WYSIWYG editors or code -

I am wondering if anyone as any experience or advice they could offer.....

Guys

Anyone any advice on contracts - I have a couple of jobs coming through from unknown clients - is there a template out there that I can base on - also do I need to get it overlooked by a legal official?

Hi Guys

I work part time as an employed designer whilst building up my own freelance business - I do have quite a lot of work on and contacted my accountant for the best advise. He gave me simple form which also asked me for my employers name and address - this was sent off to the tax office - there done and dusted - took 2 mins - therefore I know I am covered and keeping some money in my business account for any tax I have to pay - ( BTW alliance and leicester have the best business package - FREE 2 years banking )

If you are being taught QuarkXpress and Illustrator a College then that is a bonus....If you know these two programs first, then learning InDesign and Freehand will be easy - Having used QuarkXpress for 8 years there are few designers out there that CAN actually use it to its full potential - Designers can find Quark very daunting and " unflexible" - but once you know its capabilites its a dam good skill to add to your CV -

I say - dont worry about it - just take the opportunity now and learn what you can...

Hi

A newbie here........Have just started part time freelancing to coincide with my part time design job ( have a busy toddler also )

Have been looking at Freelance UK for a few months - done my first job - halfway through my second job - starting my third job - going well. ( Luckily all with the same client )
