Job Vacancy AI & Data Specialist

In this role, you will work directly with clients to understand their challenges, identify where AI and data science can create meaningful value, and translate those opportunities into practical strategies and solutions. You’ll take ownership of engagements from discovery and experimentation through to deployment and optimisation, combining strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise.

You’ll design and develop solutions spanning machine learning, Generative AI, natural language processing, computer vision and advanced analytics, using platforms including Azure AI Foundry where appropriate. Working within supportive multidisciplinary teams, you’ll have scope to explore new approaches while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, responsible and aligned with client objectives. You’ll also help strengthen CGI’s wider AI capability by sharing expertise and turning emerging technologies into repeatable client value.

• Lead & Deliver: Own AI and data science engagements from discovery and proof of concept through to production and optimisation.

• Shape & Advise: Develop AI strategies and technology roadmaps aligned with client priorities and measurable outcomes.

• Design & Build: Create machine learning, Generative AI, NLP, computer vision and advanced analytics solutions.

• Experiment & Validate: Test new approaches, evaluate models and iteratively improve performance.

• Collaborate & Influence: Work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to identify and prioritise high-value opportunities.

• Translate & Communicate: Turn complex technical findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Optimise & Scale: Apply strong engineering and MLOps practices to move solutions successfully into production.

• Champion Responsible AI: Embed appropriate security, privacy, governance and responsible AI principles throughout delivery.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

You’ll bring commercial experience in data science and AI, with the ability to combine hands-on technical knowledge with an understanding of how AI can solve real business problems. You’ll be comfortable engaging with clients, exploring new technologies and working collaboratively to turn complex requirements into secure, scalable and valuable solutions.

• Proven experience delivering data science and AI solutions in commercial, consulting or client-facing environments.

• Strong knowledge of machine learning and data science, alongside practical understanding of Generative AI, NLP and advanced analytics.

• Strong Python skills, including relevant libraries and frameworks such as pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.

• Experience with Generative AI tooling, with knowledge of frameworks such as LangChain.

• Experience with cloud AI platforms, particularly Azure AI Foundry and Azure Machine Learning; AWS Bedrock or Google Cloud AI experience is also valuable.

• Good understanding of data engineering, model deployment and MLOps principles.

• Experience with modern engineering practices, including Git, CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes.

• Proven ability to design scalable solutions and solve complex analytical and technical problems.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and recommendations to different audiences.

• Proven ability to establish trusted client relationships and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
