We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Influential, with strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically, creatively, and independently to solve issues.
  • Excellent planning and implementation methodology.
  • Skilled Practitioner with extensive experience and proven track record in the understanding of ITSM processes.
  • Detailed working knowledge and practical experience of Network infra in Wifi, DC On-prem, Cloud, Next Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies.
  • Significant demonstrable experience with network monitoring and analysis tooling

You and your role

Our Senior Network Engineers provide operational support and carry out planned BAU work such as upgrades and failover exercise as well as provide input into service improvements.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll guide a team of capable engineers, support complex infrastructure, and drive innovation across Wi-Fi, On-Prem, and Cloud environments.

Your expertise in network tooling (e.g. Wireshark, NetScout, BMC Entuity), Cloud and On-Prem infrastructure, NGFWs, load balancers and PKI will be key. Familiarity with Aruba Central, ClearPass, Arista CloudVision and network automation tools like Terraform, Ansible and Python are also desirable, but not essential.

We want you to be at your best too. We'll give you the tools and time to build your skills and learn new tricks - with coaching, mentoring, qualifications and formal learning, meet-ups or whatever else works for you.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
