As an AWS Cloud Security Product Owner, you will drive secure-by-design principles, guide technical decision-making, and ensure our solutions deliver measurable impact for clients operating in highly sensitive environments. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.

Candidate profile

In this role, you will lead the security direction for AWS platforms, guiding cloud product teams through secure design, governance, and assurance activities. You will shape the security architecture for high-profile services, ensuring regulatory alignment and enabling teams to innovate confidently while maintaining robust protection standards. You’ll collaborate closely with programme leadership, influence decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across the cloud security landscape.

You will run technical forums, direct security investigations, and provide authoritative guidance across multiple programmes, ensuring security controls are implemented effectively and consistently.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead & Influence: Provide expert AWS security direction across products and programmes.

• Develop & Govern: Define and embed cloud security capabilities, governance, and controls.

• Assure & Align: Maintain compliance with ISO standards, NCSC principles, and Secure-by-Design strategies.

• Review & Guide: Lead security design reviews and technical consultations.

• Optimise & Enhance: Prioritise vulnerabilities, drive remediation, and strengthen cloud security posture.

• Collaborate & Support: Steer security forums, support incidents, and lead post-incident reviews.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To succeed, you’ll bring strong AWS cloud security expertise, experience applying secure-by-design approaches, and a proven ability to lead structured security direction across complex environments. You should be confident guiding decision-makers, influencing engineering teams, and ensuring alignment with UK Government and industry standards.

Essential qualifications:

• Extensive experience in AWS cloud security

• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, frameworks, and best practice

• Proven ability to lead security reviews and technical governance

• Knowledge of ISO27001, BS10008, NCSC CAF, and related frameworks

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable:

• Experience in government or secure environments

• Knowledge of cloud-native security automation and continuous improvement
