Digital Services at the Royal Household supports nearly 500 systems and 1,500 users across multiple UK locations. Our technology ecosystem reflects the breadth and complexity of our work, and your technical expertise will be central to enabling it. You’ll help underpin everything we do to support The Sovereign in serving the UK and Commonwealth to help shape a better world, contributing to a legacy of purpose, progress and impact.
As a Technical Project Manager, you’ll lead a portfolio of high-impact technology initiatives, each with its own scale, stakeholders, and strategic impact. With an initial spotlight on a transformative SharePoint programme, you’ll take ownership from concept to delivery, helping shape smarter ways of working and driving meaningful change across the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
Take ownership of the full lifecycle of software and system development projects, from initial concept and planning through to execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring seamless delivery throughout.
Internally, you’ll coordinate cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a consistently high standard.
Partner with stakeholders to shape project requirements, scope, and success criteria. You’ll manage timelines, budgets, risks and dependencies using established project management methodologies.
Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, realistic expectations, and transparent performance tracking at every stage.
Working with enterprise architects, you’ll help define the technology requirements that support smarter business processes and align long-term organisational goals.
You’ll also work alongside the Senior Project Manager to build a high-performing project team, embedding a consistent approach to project delivery.
Essential Criteria:
You bring substantial experience in leading software and system development or deployment projects, supported by relevant qualifications or certifications.
You’re confident using project management platforms to plan, track, and deliver effectively.
Naturally structured in your approach, you’re able to manage multiple projects of varying scale, juggle competing priorities, and maintain momentum in fast-paced environments.
You build strong, collaborative relationships with ease - engaging stakeholders at all levels and influencing outcomes through trust, empathy and clarity.
You have a sharp eye for identifying risks early and planning proactively across complex workstreams, ensuring delivery stays on track and aligned with strategic goals.
You’re an excellent communicator who can tailor your style to suit technical and non-technical audiences alike, ensuring clarity, engagement, and shared understanding.
You’re passionate about benefits realisation and know how to apply post-implementation analysis to ensure measurable impact and long-term value.
Join a team where your expertise will be valued, your contributions will matter, and your work will help shape the future of a historic institution. If this role excites you and aligns with your experience, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
