As a Senior Content Designer within our SPARCK team, you will play a vital role in creating clear, inclusive, and engaging content that transforms complex processes into meaningful user journeys. You’ll work at the forefront of digital innovation, influencing strategy, leading content design, and enabling collaboration across diverse teams. This role empowers you to take ownership of content outcomes, bring creativity to solving user challenges, and be supported in driving long-lasting value for clients, users, and communities.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.

Candidate profile

In this role, you will shape the future of content design by leading the creation of accessible, evidence-based content strategies that make services intuitive and impactful. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, guide clients through design decisions, and ensure content consistently meets user needs while supporting wider business objectives. You will also mentor others, advocate for inclusive design, and bring clarity to complex projects.

By taking ownership of content outcomes and influencing senior stakeholders, you will help clients adopt best practice, innovate with content governance, and embed sustainable approaches that deliver real change. Supported by CGI’s collaborative culture, you’ll have the space to experiment, refine, and share your expertise with colleagues and clients alike.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead & Innovate: Shape content strategy, governance, and tone of voice for diverse clients.

Leads content planning from discovery to delivery, embedding research and testing throughout.

Designs content structures within information architecture, navigation, and interaction models.

Develop & Deliver: Create content that is clear, engaging, and accessible, meeting WCAG 2.1 standards.

Optimise & Automate: Use data, research, and information architecture to simplify complex processes.

Collaborate & Influence: Partner with designers, researchers, and stakeholders to drive end-to-end solutions.

Guide & Support: Mentor junior designers and build capability within teams and across CGI’s SPARCK community.

Champion & Advocate: Promote human-centred, inclusive design practices with clients and the wider community.

Builds consensus across differing stakeholder perspectives through co-creation.

Selects and configures CMS and content tooling in partnership with design and tech.

Tracks performance metrics, iterating based on user behaviour and feedback

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To succeed in this role, you should bring extensive experience in content design and strategy, with a strong record of creating user-focused, accessible solutions. You’ll need to demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, alongside a passion for human-centred design and continuous learning.

Essential capabilities:

Content: Develops strategies that enhance user experience and meet business goals. Strong experience in content design, strategy, and governance

Insights: Leads user research for content; integrates findings into design decisions. Skilled in using evidence, research, and prototyping to inform decisions

Content architecture: Creates and tests structures that support findability and usability. Proven ability to design accessible content aligned with WCAG 2.1

Collaboration: Shapes outcomes in multi-disciplinary teams; facilitates co-design workshops. Initiates and leads content-focused workshops.

User engagement: Uses performance data and testing insights to drive iteration.

Client: Communicates the value of design-led content decisions to stakeholders. Identifies and escalates stakeholder issues, with clear recommendations. Confident in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing

Mentoring: Experience mentoring and supporting junior designers

Tools: Proficiency with design tools such as Figma and content management systems

Desirable experience:

Knowledge of GDS or NHS style guidelines

Background in consulting or working across public and private sectors

Familiarity with Agile delivery methods

Understanding of SEO best practice
