I have an immediate interim opportunity with a key Central Government customers of ours & I am looking for a specialist in Assurance. The description of the role is below:
The organisation has a wide and diverse portfolio of change that is geared towards delivering the ambitions of the strategy over the next 3 years. The purpose of this role is to facilitate and drive assurance activity across Transformation and ensure that projects and programmes deliver sound outcomes meeting set criteria and standards, whilst working with Project Managers / SRO's to ensure they implement appropriate levels of assurance as part of baseline and future planning activities. The role holder will also be pivotal in embedding the methods and practice, guiding and supporting the team to develop the skills and behaviours necessary to deliver their changes successfully, and champion assurance at Executive level to promote its value across the organisation.
Responsible for leading assurance across Transformation portfolio
Oversees the planning, scheduling and management of assurance activities.
Ensures the alignment of key assurance activities to major delivery milestones and ensure these are integrated across interdependent projects
Manage a framework of assurance to provide evidence that all Transformation activities are compliant with business needs and requirements, and best practices.
Performs quality assurance activities across the portfolio including but not limited to; Audits, reviews, compliance, health checks. Reports the outcomes of reviews to all relevant stakeholders, confirms their understanding and acceptance, and agrees resulting actions. Leads on the timely and accurate reporting of assurance data to senior managers to ensure transparency.
Stays abreast of best practice and ensures continuous evaluation and improvement of the organisations approach to programme and project management.
Manages conflict resolution and the unblocking of team issues.
Engages with key stakeholder groups to ensure the organisation understands the role of the Assurance and the value the team brings.
Skills & Experience:
Experience of significant assurance management experience gained in a project environment.
Exemplary knowledge of a wide range of programme/project methodologies and demonstrable experience of applying them appropriately in different contexts (e.g., PRINCE 2, MSP, AGILE).
Experience of improving performance by coaching individuals to work differently and through embedding new practices and standards.
Tenacious, with an eye for detail and ability to pre-empt and solve problems.
An ability to influence senior stakeholders with wide ranging and often competing priorities.
Comfortable when managing conflict and is able to challenge constructively.
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a matrix environment, deliver through others and operate effectively at all levels.
Demonstrable experience of identifying, assessing and managing complex risks and issues.
Excellent organisation skills.
Highly proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Project / Programme / Portfolio Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, MOP)

End Date : 30/06/2024
Rate : Up to £700 per day
WFH (with flexibility to travel to offices in London)
