Working for clients based abroad
- Payments from abroad..
Forgive me if my input seems out of line. Being from the states myself, whenever I do work with an overseas company/person, I usually request a 50% payment upon agreement of the project at hand. I find that it works well and most people do not disapprove. Business is business after all. Granted many people are worried about paying an overseas company and then not getting what it is that they paid for, and that can be an issue at times, but as I stated before, for the most part, companies/people understand and will work with you.
Hope this helps you a bit. :bye
Thank you for the advice, it seems fair to ask for a deposit.
- If it's a new client I tend to ask for a % of the fee upfront as a deposit no matter where they are based in the world :happy the % depends on several factors - like the overall value of the project, location etc, but I usually ask for a minimum of 25%.
If it's a client I have worked with before and I know I can trust then I am not too bothered about a deposit if that makes sense?
- You'll need to speak to your bank also and get an IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and a SWIFT number to provide to the client.
I also agree, make sure you get a % up-front, I usually ask for at least 40%.
