Work & Turn
I've been reading the forum with great interest and now I have a chance to post! My local printer has offered me a better rate if I send all my work in one job lot for "work & turn" printing. My understanding is that they flip over the sheet and then print on the other side after it has dried. I'm curious to know if this can be done with a mixture of paper sizes on the sheet on the sheet or does it all have to be a set size?
Help Please 😉
- Printcarrier - never answer my calls
Does anyone on this site order their print through printcarrier? I've got a few orders outstanding which I'm waiting for and the number on the website is down as non existent when I phone it.
- The items being planned up together for print don't have to be the same size but they would have to be going on the same paper stock and be using the same colours (although if you have two different 2-colour jobs going on the same stock it can sometimes be worth planning up together as a single three colour job).
As an example, if you were printing stationery for a client (all items using the same colours), the letterhead, comp slip, continuation sheet and invoice templates etc (all on 120gsm stock) could all be planned up together, regardless of whether they are single or double sided and the size of each item. Business cards (perhaps on a 300gsm stock) would be planned up separately but it would almost certainly be worth having them printed at the same time as the correct colours would already be on the press.
When getting quotes in similar situations to this it's worth asking the printers to plan items up together where it is economical to do so. They would print everything together anyway if supplied in one go - they may just try to get away with charging them as separate jobs unless you ask!Opus Creative Design Ltd
