Advice on paying tax
My husband works full time as a Graphic Designer (employed) and has just completed some freelance work in addition to his job (less than £1,000).
How does he go about declaring this work for tax purposes?
Does he need to register as self employed and fill in a tax return. If so would he have to do the full one or just the short version.
Many thanks, Kirstin
- I'm in exactly the same position. I've recently done a few jobs on the side and I'm not sure where I stand tax wise.
I had a look at the Tax website, but it's confused me more than anything.
The main thing I'm concerned about is that if I do have to declare, will my current employers find out?
- If you look on the general forum on this site you'll see the question has come up a number of times before. Others here are far better qualified to answer than I am, but I believe that the basic answer is that yes, you have to register as self employed and do a self assessment at the end of the tax year.Opus Creative Design Ltd
- My husband has paid tax recently, although we think that we are not able to pay it. My husband income`s tax percentage seems that its easy to pay but in real it is really difficult to manage for us.
