We are currently looking to recruit an Associate Data Centre Technician to
support the business in providing a high quality service for IT Hardware and delivering operational and Administration expertise to the User community.

Location - Reading area - Please note this role is fully site-based at our facility in the Thames Valley.

Salary - from £29,940 - £35,000 per annum DOE

The Role:

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
  • Deliver Technical Excellence.
  • To support the planning and co-ordination of rack space allocation within the Data Centres and Comms rooms for operational IT through life cycle utilising tooling provided.
  • Audit the AWE estate IT communication rooms in accordance with the JSP 604 framework, and document/report findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for code changes within the secure IT environment and to keep stakeholders informed of code updates.
  • Be responsible for diagnosing and following through to resolution any problems, escalating to team members or other teams and vendors when required.
  • To support the Technical Service Manager and Team Leaders in maintaining the operational status, maximising availability of assets to programme demanders.
  • To record and report on Power consumption, cooling, and utilisation of assets within the Data Centres and Comms Rooms at AWE sites.
  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.

The Candidate:

  • Good communicator (Written and oral) with sound facilitation skills and capable of providing up to date information regarding the Communications environment to stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and influence decisions.
  • Work closely with Stakeholders to provide a resolution to ensure that the Communications environment is compliant in accordance with MOD regulations
  • Technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient computing skills.
  • All necessary training & Qualifications for this role will be provided.
  • This role will involve being part of an On-Call rota (1 in 4 weeks)

All Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
