An affordable method to market your freelance business

When you run a business, there are many things to do, and not much time to do them all. It would be amazing to hire other freelancers, to help manage that heavy burden, and free up some of your precious time, however that’s not always possible.

Alas, sometimes your budget doesn’t permit such a luxury, and you have to get savvy with your time and resources to stay on target. Thankfully, there are ways to spread the word about your business that cost nothing, or very little, and that’s what we’re covering today. So here are some affordable methods to market your freelance business, as told by Design Bundles.

All marketing roads lead to imagery

Most if not all, marketing activities benefit from the inclusion of visuals. Relevant imagery helps to (forgive the incoming cliche) put folks in the picture. It gives your audience an instant idea of what you are saying within a social media post, an email, or a blog entry.

Visuals help to catch people’s attention, so they are drawn instantly to your content. Plus they also keep people engaged in long-form content like web pages or blog posts because they break up the text.

Where to access free professional imagery online

Because of the demand for image-based content, many places have popped up online where you can access visuals free of charge. Design Bundles, for example, have a whole section dedicated to providingdesign resources for free. Here you will find free photos, graphics, and perhaps the most helpful of all, customisable templates.

Customisable templates are perfect for business owners short on time because a pro has already done the design legwork. All you need to do is update the editable elements to suit your brand, and change the information depending on what you need to promote or communicate to your audience.

Some of the templates include various product mock-ups, marketing templates (for business cards, themed blogs, flyers, merchandise, etc.) and editable social media graphics, this brings us onto our next suggestion nicely!

Getting social media savvy

Now you know where to access free social media templates (which is handy because every platform has different image size specifications), it’s time to put them to use. If you’re going to get savvy with social media, you will need plenty of images to work in tandem with your templates.

We’ve mentioned Design Bundles, but, there are more places to access photos. Stock photo websites like Pexels, Pixabay, and Unsplash are full of free photographs to use within your templates. You can also incorporate pictures taken by yourself for a more personalised post. Either way, you can use the same social media template multiple times and keep it fresh by changing the image and text.

Putting it all together

Now you have your templates and know a few different places to access photos for free; you’ll need digital design software to put it all together. For image files like JPEG or PNG try Canva and Monogram Maker, both are free to use and accessible to all experience levels.

All that’s left to do now is finalise your graphic, and share it throughout your social media channels along with some engaging text!
